LONGVIEW, TX – Learning that he will be unopposed, Keith Rothra, accepts the position as Chairman of the Gregg County Republican Party. “I heard the call to serve and look forward to leading the party to future success,” Rothra said. The filing deadline was January 2, 2008.

Keith Rothra announced his candidacy on December 14, 2007. Rothra was the only person to file for Republican Chairman. As a result, Rothra will become the new Chairman following the primary election.

Rothra’s campaign called for uniting the party and overcoming divisive factions that developed over many years. As incoming Chairman, Rothra calls on every member of the Republican Party to come together saying, “Only together can we win in 2008; only together can we ensure that the next President is a Republican.”

Dorothy Khoury, who did not file for re-election, served as Chairwoman for the past six years. “Gregg County owes Mrs. Khoury many thanks for her service, dedication, and efforts in the Republican Party,” Rothra said.

Keith Rothra has worked in the Gregg Republican Party since 1993 after retiring from the US Air Force. Rothra also teaches state and local government for LeTourneau University, Kilgore College, and Texas A&M at Texarkana. He also has been in Christian ministry for over twenty years.
